Drummer John Rutsey, an original member of the rock group Rush, died over the weekend in Toronto.
Rutsey co-founded Rush in 1968 along with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, and played on the group’s first album in 1974. That album contained the band’s first hit single, “Working Man.”
Rutsey left the group soon after for health reasons, having suffered from diabetes from an early age. It was reported that he gave up playing drums for amateur bodybuilding competition.
Rutsey was 55.
