Kenny Chesney has made the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year award his own. Kenny claimed the honor during Sunday’s 43rd annual ceremony in Las Vegas, going to the podium at the end of the night, just as he’s done each year since 2005.
See Also:"A lot of great artists and people who mean a lot to this business have stood up here in years past," Kenny said. "I’m honored to be up here for the fourth year in a row." Kenny is only the second artist to claim the award that many times consecutively. Alabama once won the honor five years straight. Garth Brooks is a five-time winner of the Academy’s top honor, though he did it in streaks of three years and two years. Several acts picked up trophies twice. Sugarland earned Single Record and Song of the Year with "Stay." Brad Paisley claimed Top Male Vocalist and, in a presentation made prior to the telecast, accepted Video of the Year for his Jason Alexander-directed "Online." And Rascal Flatts secured its sixth straight award as Top Vocal Group along with the Home Depot Humanitarian Award. "Out of all [the awards] we’ve been given, this is probably one of the most special," bass player Jay DeMarcus said as they took the Humanitarian honor. "We’ve been firm believers that if you give, you get back. That’s what we’ve tried to do. I wanna challenge everybody out there to give your blessings back because they will come back to you 100 times over, I promise you."
