DMX

Although he's been having a bad month in the courts, he caught a break last week, when a judge nullified a $1.5 million judgment awarded to a woman in a defamation suit against the rapper earlier this year.

According to the Associated Press, Maryland Judge Thomas Smith ruled last week that X (real name: Earl Simmons) was not properly served with court papers in the case filed against him by Monique Wayne. Thus, the judgment was void.

The woman claimed defamation when DMX claimed in a 2006 interview that the woman had raped her, resulting in the birth of a child that has proven to be his.

Wayne became pregnant in 2003, after an encounter with DMX in a hotel room in Baltimore. She later gave birth to a baby boy the following year, and after a DNA test, it was revealed that X was the father.

"She raped me," DMX claimed in the 2006 interview with Sister2Sister magazine. "DNA says it is [my child]. I don't know. If I did [have sex with her], I would remember. It ain't like she's a pretty girl."

She awarded $1.5 million in a hearing in January after the rapper failed to appear. However, X's lawyers challenged the judgment, claiming Wayne did not properly serve him with lawsuit papers and was unaware of the case against him.

X's lawyers told the AP that they look "forward to proving her allegations to be wrong" if the case continues.

DMX is also facing criminal charges in Arizona for allegedly mistreating pitbulls found at his Phoenix home and felony drug possession, which he has pleaded not guilty to.

He was also recently arrested for speeding.
